The ceremony will be divided into two parts:
Part I – Inaugural Session & Student Awards
Chaired by Prof. Janos Kertész and Prof. Stefano Ruffo, this first part will open the conference with institutional greetings and conclude with the School Project Award Ceremony, honoring a group of outstanding high school students.
As part of StatPhys29’s mission to engage the local community and promote scientific awareness among youth, the organizing committee involved high school students and teachers from Florence and neighboring provinces (Prato, Pistoia, Siena, and Arezzo).
Students attended themed lectures on key topics in statistical physics—such as climate change, migration, and artificial intelligence—and, with guidance from their teachers, developed original projects.
Part II – Paladin Award Ceremony
Chaired by Prof. Roberto Livi, President of the Italian Society of Statistical Physics (SIFS), this second part will include the presentation of the Giovanni Paladin Awards, delivered jointly with Prof. Giorgio Parisi, 2021 Nobel Laureate in Physics.
The awards — for the Best Doctoral Thesis and the Best Italian Paper in Statistical Physics — honor outstanding contributions by young researchers and celebrate the legacy of Giovanni Paladin.
The ceremony will conclude with a keynote lecture by Prof. Giorgio Parisi, titled “Emergent Collective Behaviour and Complexity”.
